Previous fifth saturday challenge...

Come visit us on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10-4 for Free Open Sew, where we work on individual projects and help each other. We have a great space to work and show off our projects.
Bring your Handwork in and show us what you're
making! Sit and Stitch with us no matter what kind of project you're working on or what level of stitching you are at! We would love to help with technical problems, give feedback, or just sit and sew together! This club is free of charge and full of good times.
Strip Club with Annie is on Friday, September 16th, from 1-4 pm. Annie is sure to make this class fun! We will be working with Ombre strips!
Row By Row is back again this year! The theme for this year is "Home Sweet Home". For those that are unfamiliar with what Row by Row is, it is a nationwide event starting June 21st. If you stop by our shop or any participating shop you can get a free pattern for the event and the option to purchase a kit from the shop! Each shop has a different pattern and the first customer to come in with a complete, quilted, bound, and labeled quilt wins a bundle of 25 fat quarters!

ONE STITCH, TWO STITCH FALL AND WINTER 2015 – Let’s Get together! We have lots of ideas for classes and clubs to take us through the fall, winter, and spring. Some are new, some are classics. We'd like you to help us choose the ones that interest you. Here is a description and some scheduling suggestions - nothing in stone, we are open to requests! Farm Girl Vintage Sew-Along - I LOVE this book by Lori Holt! You can experience life on the farm with these sweet and sassy blocks featuring chicks, cherries, strawberries, barns as well as classic blocks. There are really good instructions for making 45 different blocks in either 6" or 12" sizes. With the ability to mix and match blocks – the quilt possibilities are endless! The fourteen projects include ten quilts, two tablerunners, a tabletopper and a potholder. There are over 140 pages of full color instructions, beautiful photos and Farm Girl fun. What I have in my mind here is just a fun sew-along, with every body working on whichever block they want. We would just be getting together to have some fun, and maybe swap some scraps. There would be a membership fee of $30 - which is just the cost of the book! Everyone would need to have a book of their own. No monthly fee. I am thinking of the 4th Sunday afternoon of each month for this get-together, starting September 27th, 1-4. Mystery Quilt - This will be our fourth year doing a mystery quilt from Border Creek Station. We love the way they are organized to stretch out the mystery and the clear instructions. This is just a get-together club as well, no teaching , but friends to ask for help if something gets tricky. The pattern set is $50 which is the registration fee. You get a $25 credit back when you purchase your fabric. This year's fabrics are more monochromatic than in the past. There are 3 main colors in the quilt, cream, gray, and green. Some of the cream and gray fabrics have tiny bits of color. If you do not want these three colors, I can help you choose alternatives. The mystery is divided into 8 segments, and you can choose to make either a 98x98 queen size quilt or a 59x78 lap. There is no monthly charge. This is on the calendar for the 2nd Sunday of every month, starting November 8th at 11:00am.
Charm School - This is a project oriented club. Each month features a project using 5"charms. We make wall hangings, bags, a project for a child, baskets, aprons - whatever strikes my fancy. The projects and charm packs will be a surprise each month! Meetings will be short and sweet - you will share your project from the previous month and then I will unveil the new project. Afterwards we will have Free Sew if you want to get started on the next project (or if you're like me, work on last month's)! Membership is for 6 months. Tuition is $35 per month. If you pay your entire tuition at the beginning, you will receive a $10 discount, and you will definitely be the Teacher's Pet. Your tuition will include two charm packs per month, a pattern, and a 10% discount on "school supplies" - whatever you need to complete the project. Each month you will make a charming project that will stretch your quilting muscles by encouraging you to try patterns and palettes that you might not have chosen on your own. This club is scheduled to meet on the 1st Sunday of each month beginning October 4th at 1:00pm.
Strip Club - Annie will make sure everyone has fun at the Strip Club! In this group you will make a quilt top each month using 2-1/2" strips. Annie has lots of stripping tips to make these quilts a breeze. Each class is $20. Strip club is scheduled for the third Friday afternoon each month from 1:00-5:00.
Threads! - This is an ongoing class that actually started last winter, but there may be room for a few newbies. Donna uses Thread:The Basics and Beyond by Debbie Bates and Liz Kettle as the foundation for this series of workshops. These “workshops” are all about the threads and needles we use every day and the ones we want to use every day, or at least sometimes on special occasions. This isn’t just about the “needles and thread”, it’s also about techniques, and how you and your machine react to it and having fun along the way creating a workbook that you can look back on for reference for that project you want to do. Each workshop is $40 and meets on the first Friday of each month from 1:00-5:00, except September when the workshop is scheduled for Friday, September 11th. Each participant must buy the book.
Free Motion Quilting with Joanne - this is a series of classes where each session brings a new free motion pattern or motif to learn. Each class is only one hour in length. You do not have to attend every class - jump in anytime. We have classes scheduled for the first Thursday of every month through November, but we are happy to start again in 2016 if there is interest. Classes will meet on Thursday, October 1st from 4:30-5:30, and Thursday, November 5th from 4:30-5:30. Each class is $15 or pre-buy 6 for $60.
Handwork Club – will start meeting again on October 9 from 1-3 and then continue meeting on the second Friday of each month. At the October meeting we will talk about whether we want to work on projects together throughout the year, or whether each person will work on their own project. Stitchers of all ages and abilities are welcome! If you are a newbie, we’ll be thrilled to help you get started. We usually embroider, but if you have a hand piecing or quilting project, if you are making 4,000 ¼” EPP hexagons, or if you just want company while you put on a binding, we will be happy to have you sit and stitch with us. There is no charge for this club.
5th Saturday Challenge! Can you make it work? Buy a bag of fabric sight unseen – each challenge’s bag will be about $20 - Use it to make anything you want. You must use a recognizable amount of each fabric in the bag, but you can add anything you'd like. You have until the next time there are 5 Saturdays in the month to finish your project. Challengers gather every time there are 5 Saturdays in a month – 3 or 4 times per year. October 31st will be the next one, and we'll meet at 10 am to show the finished projects and unveil the new challenge. New people are welcomed every time! Just let us know you are joining us so we have enough bags.
Retreat – 2016 will be our 7th retreat! Woohoo! The theme will be Brazil. We gather at the Franconia Inn on Friday and stay til Sunday at 1. This year we will be eating Brazilian inspired food and having tons of fun! We stay 2 nights and eat all the time – 6 delicious meals plus snacks. Attendees have the option of attending project workshops or working on their own projects. We play games, sometimes dance, and get great goody bags. This year’s retreat is planned for March 18, 19 and 20th. I haven’t gotten quotes back from the Inn or the rental company, but I am sure it will be less than $500 – probably $460-$475. If you are interested, look for an invitation by email in early October. Don’t procrastinate about registering because it fills up quickly!
